چکیده
Eosinophilic endomyocarditis is a manifestation of hypereosinophilic syndrome, characterized by prolonged (>6 months), unexplained peripheral blood eosinophilia (>1,500 cells/mm(3)) with end-organ damage in unknown causes. We report a case of a 42-year-old patient who developed eosinophilic endomyocarditis following upper respiratory tract symptoms for 2 months. Additionally, endomyocarditis was combined with massive pleural effusion and pericardial effusion, which have not been reported in Korea.

We submit here an unusual case in which a user of crack cocaine presented with progressive dyspnea of subacute duration and was subsequently found to have concurrent pericardial and pleural effusions and pulmonary emboli. To our knowledge, there is only one prior case report that describes a potential causal relationship between crack cocaine and the development of a pleural effusion, via an eo...
متن کاملComparison of the prevalence of pericardial effusion and cardiac tamponade after cardiac surgery with and without chest tube suction in patients referred to Chamran hospital, Isfahan
Background: Pericardial effusion is one of the most important complications of cardiac surgeries. Administration of a low-power suction to the mediastinal or pleural chest tube of patients helps better and constant drainage of pericardial or pleural secretions after surgeries. This technique might change the secretion and discharges of patients and might change the outcomes of surgeries. Metho...

Echocardiography revealed a large posterior mediastinal mass extending to the left atrial wall and massive pericardial effusion. The presumptive diagnosis was lymphoma. At operation, a large brownish-yellow mass was noted at th...
